About The Role:
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Senior Controller to lead the global accounting and financial reporting operations for a global music company. This role will be instrumental in scaling the finance function, implementing international financial controls, and supporting global expansion. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background in U.S. GAAP, international operations, and startup environments, combined with a bias for action and a collaborative mindset.
Key Responsibilities
*Lead all accounting operations globally, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
*Own the monthly close process, ensuring all journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and reporting are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
*Develop and enforce a monthly close calendar with clearly defined deadlines and deliverables to ensure a consistent and efficient close process.
*Prepare and review monthly financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses, and supporting schedules.
*Ensure the integrity of financial data across all global entities through structured closing procedures, consolidation, and intercompany reconciliations.
*Oversee global statutory reporting and coordinate with local accounting firms and advisors.
*Lead the annual audit and prepare audit-ready financial statements for both internal and external stakeholders including banks for credit facilities.
*Partner with CFO to on various internal initiatives as needed.
*Collaborate with operations and legal to manage entity setups, intercompany transactions, and transfer pricing policies.
*Implement and scale accounting systems, automation tools, and financial processes to meet growth demands.
*Manage and mentor a small global finance and accounting team; ensure continuous development and training.
*Support international cash flow forecasting, and compliance with local financial regulations.
*Advise on financial risks and opportunities in international markets, including compliance, VAT/GST, and tax exposure.
Qualifications
*Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required.
*Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience, with at least 3 years in a senior accounting role at a high-growth company.
*Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and global accounting standards.
*Proven experience managing monthly close processes in a multi-entity and international environment.
* Hands-on experience with multi-entity consolidations and international accounting.
* Proven success implementing scalable processes in a fast-paced startup environment.
*Proficient in accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Xero, QuickBooks Online) and Excel/Google Sheets.
*Excellent project management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
*Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
*Experience in SaaS, digital services, or e-commerce business models.
*Familiarity with global tax structuring, intercompany agreements, and transfer pricing strategies.
*Fluency in a second language (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese) a plus.
